Macchiato. Origin: Italian. Espresso with a dash of frothy steamed milk.

To me, a Macchiato is more than just a drink. It represents the vehicle to meaningful conversations with people.

I first discovered my love for Macchiatos in 2013 when my husband and I eloped to Italy for our wedding and honeymoon adventure. Does it still count as eloping if all our friends and family knew we were getting hitched on the Amalfi Coast by Positano's mayor, an Italian-looking Antonio Banderas?

Our wedding ceremony was held at the most picturesque city hall atop a Positano cliff. The most charming elder resident owned a little cafe across the street. He served us our wedding drinks: a double Espresso Macchiato for me and a Hazelnut Tea for my soon-to-be husband. Quite simply, this caffè Macchiato was a slice of heaven that gave me flavour and a memorable time with my partner.

Since then, every Macchiato has been engraved in my mind... and on my phone's camera roll. In every business or social encounter, a shared Macchiato moment ensues. Cafés provide a perfect setting for getting to know a person more authentically.

It gives me great joy today to share a Macchiato with exceptional women who are bringing communities together, building amazing businesses, and bringing influence to the modern workplace. I am fortunate to be able to share some of their wisdom with you.
